Hemianthis glomeratus is a relatively undemanding plant that flourishes with ample light; at least 0.5 watts per litre. Under good lighting conditions it produces dense, upright, slanted, or even horizontal shoots. In lower light, the growth will be vertical and with more distance between nodes. Even with mild lighting, no injection of CO2 is required for the plant to develop; nevertheless, adding CO2 to the tank will result in faster growth and bushier structure - without it may lead to greyish-white lime deposits on leaves from biogenous decalcification. Beneficial results occur when nitrate, phosphate (1 - 2 mg/l are ideal), iron, and other micronutrients are actively supplied beyond regular maintenance. Be aware that this species may have an adverse reaction to medications containing Erythromycin or Tryptaflavin.

Hemianthus glomeratus is an excellent option for stem planting, and there are many ways to make use of its capabilities. Under bright lighting, it will form into a soft carpet in the foreground, providing a vivid splash of colour. Or, with regular trimming, it can be grown into a neat bush in the middle ground. For nano tanks specifically, its tiny leaves create a great decorative accent in the background.
